Placements & internships
We encourage our students to undertake high quality work experience to improve their skills, commercial awareness and employability on graduation. Our dedicated placement team can help promote your work experience, placement, project or internship opportunities to our students and graduates.
One year placements
The large majority of placements are assessed as part of the student’s course and the courses currently offering a year in industry include Business Studies, Computer Science, Chemistry, Engineering and Biological Science.
Students not on an official four year programme can suspend their studies to undertake a placement so still may be worth targeting.
Previous employers have found our students to be of high academic calibre and often view the employment of a placement student as an ‘extended job interview’ for their graduate roles (although there is no commitment or expectation that this should be the case).
We do ask that all placements are paid and it is our policy not to advertise any unpaid work experience. Salary levels do vary depending on the level of skill required however it is typically between £15,000 and £18,000 a year.
If your organisation is interested in working with the University of Liverpool and offering placements to our students, we can provide a range of facilities, free of charge to assist you in the delivery of interviews/assessment centres.
